Your Steak Should Be Like Your Love: Rare and Tender

As a planner, I like to give myself ample time to prepare for a dinner or event. With Valentine’s Day a few weeks away, I wanted to provide you with some ideas for how to celebrate.

Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to incorporate anything pink or red, like taper candles and napkins. Not to mention, nothing is more romantic than candlelight so turn off all your lights and stick with the warm glow of candles on your table!

If you are cooking for a significant other, make a meal catered to their favorite foods as a show of appreciation. However, if they are indecisive about their food preference, show off your culinary skills!

I like to serve a Filet Mignon when cooking for two (for larger groups, I recommend cooking a larger cut, like a Porterhouse, and carving before serving). Accompanied by creamy potatoes au gratin and sautéed spinach, this steak dinner is the way to my heart.

Nothing says Valentine’s Day like chocolate so to round out this meal, I always choose chocolate mousse, topped with whipped cream and a light dusting of cocoa.

Celebrations always call for champagne in my book so chill a bottle or two early in the day to enjoy with dinner. A splash of Chambord turns a glass of champagne into the perfect pink Valentine’s Day cocktail. I also like to commemorate special occasions by saving the cork, marked with the date.

Celebrating Galentine’s Day instead of Valentine’s Day? I still say treat yourself! Stock up on a few more bottles of bubbly and trade out the candles for a movie. Might I suggest John Tucker Must Die? Make the same menu because you deserve it. It tastes just as good, if you’re single or taken.
